I really related to this interview! I have the same schedule and challenges with two young children. My favorite quote was: "I don't think I procrastinate on writing tasks. I wish I could do it more often. I procrastinate on networking and administrative tasks. Writing may be my procrastination technique."
I would love to hear more about AI. I just send myself voice memos via email, what does AI do that's different?
Heather I loved this quote too! Yes writing might be a BIG procrastination technique. I also procrastiplan writing.
How do you use your voice memos via email? Are you transcribing them? Are you talking into your phone and then writing this up as writing? I'm curious.
One of the biggest caveats on AI: it works really well depending on the human input it is handling. Using it to brainstorm ideas is one way. For instance you could 'train' your own AI assistant to get to know your viewpoints and perspectives. Then input a subject and have a conversation with it to see what you could create.
Interesting on AI...I've only used it to help my brainstorm short story titles (I'm terrible with titles).
For my voice memos, I'll open up a blank email and do speech to text. Essentially I ramble a plot idea or character development or edit into my email, then send to myself. When it's time to write, I'll retype it out into my OneNote outline or make the change in the piece.
I have not tried the analyzer but definitely will! I do love Google docs, but my brain is a walking OneNote and until they have a good OneNote experience on Google drive, I probably will have to keep my method. That is why I was wondering if there was an AI option to transcribe things formatted
I thought you were getting at something specific. Can you say this in different words: I was wondering if there was an AI option to transcribe things formatted - I want to know what you mean by things formatted. 😉
Apologies, I'm using that handy speech to text and it's translating poorly (hence my struggle!). When I do speak to text in an email, it comes out as one big run-on sentence. I would love it if there was a transcribing solution that would make my rambling thoughts complete sentences, and possibly make them into a logical bulleted list.

Have you tried the MonsterInsights Headline Analyzer? I’d love to know what you think of it!
Also, are you a Google Docs fan? Using the dictation tool has been a game-changer for me—no more retyping words!
I’m always on the lookout for time-saving hacks. We time-crunched parents have to get creative, right?

Oh goodness that’s a lot of extra work.
If you dictate into ChatGPT it formats too. 😉
Awesome! I had never thought of AI until this interview. Love your series!
