I’ve been there. It got dangerous as I was past my breaking point. Hes doing well in his group home and happy there. He’s getting what he needs that I did my best to give him but was unable to. It’s one of the most challenging jobs imaginable and I hope you are getting the support you need.

I am going through a major transition right now that is taking me out of my comfort zone, this is a great reminder that it's okay to feel this as I step into doing a hard thing.

Beautiful note, and you have a beautiful voice too! One phrase I have been saying lately is "we don't need to make a religion out of everything". I love it because we can make almost anything into a cult or religion, and then you've got yourself in a box surrounded by limitation (self-inflicted) rather than remembered you are infinitely limitless (nature). Follow your truth that's in your heart, that's all you can do, and naturally you will encounter those who share similar truths, but even then, try not to create a religion out of it still! Why were you scared of publishing that episode with Katie, I am curious?
I answer your question about Katie Hopkins in a pod episode. She warned people would send me hate mail, it would affect my listenership, my consulting firm and more. She’s perceived as an extreme voice in the media - this links to your point about truths since she argues she’s not a hate figure. There’s a handful of people who’ve interviewed Katie in the UK. Not many. There’s good reason - because of her far right provocative views (I don’t agree with them to be clear) and the manner in which she has conducted herself in these.
Wowsers. I know things can get pretty intense in the UK too. I’ve forgotten which episode you said you explained it in now. Let me know and I’ll check it!
What do we do when people hold opinions that clash with our own belief systems? We see if we can use them as a force for transcendence and understanding. And if not, gracefully part ways, but at the very least entertain the viewpoint.
It sounds like something inside of you really wanted to publish the ep. Perhaps it would have been a force for good because people would’ve the opportunity to have seen a side of her never seen before. I also don’t think anyone should ever be publicly called things like “the biggest bitch in Britain”. That’s messed up.
It’s good she speaks her truth, but I also believe you can still speak your truth from a place that’s detached from ego and from one that doesn’t disregard hurting others in name of speaking the truth. Masterfully speaking the truth is a skill. Spread love, not hate.
Because I share similar views with you, I don’t see utility for those type of comments and my interests lie in the greater and collective good. For example I personally wouldn’t care what other families decide to do with their children and their phones, irrespective of my opinion. It’s their choice. For me, it’s far more worthwhile expending energy on doing good within my circle of influence, which then has a ripple effect out to the greater good, rather than running around and forcing my belief systems and opinions on others. Have opinions held lightly (don’t lose your identity in them) and if better information comes along, by all means upgrade your belief system. And if not, move along.
I don’t know this woman and wouldn’t claim to but general feel is it seems like she quite enjoys the position she’s in (self-fulfilling), and more often than not there’s likely a linkage to a childhood pattern or unmet need. Feel for her!
I can see why you were so hesitant now, it’s a direct clash of deep values.
