And I look forward to reading yours! When I was contract faculty in a writing program I was the only instructor with three young children. I felt very alone in what i had to accomplish each day to attempt to keep up with everyone. It's not easy!
The isolation of being the only faculty member with young children hits hard. Thank you for sharing that Alison. You couldn’t know that I once published on Women in the Academy when I was an academic in a business school. Fascinating but mood lowering at the same time.
My colleagues had no idea I was mother to a brood of children. I was promoted, had tenure blah blah. Imagine their shock to discover the existence of five little people ‘back at the ranch’. That made me laugh. Anyhow,I left just over a year after my sixth was born.
Even now women’s networks in universities use that book to discuss themes still alive and kicking in that environment! 🤦🏼♀️
Pleasure to have you guest on this series Walter. Thanks for that.
Another great interview with a terrific writer!
Aw thanks Tracy. Walter is as you say a terrific writer! ✍️
Coming from you, Walter--a working writer who inspires me!--thank you! We (collective!) work hard at this creating thing.
What a useful and necessary piece to talk about, Danusia! How to write with children and the task of parenting. Very good.
I’m grateful to find you via Walter. Alison your work is something I’m looking forward to getting into.
